Kissing the Frogs...

I grew up with a massive book that was always around – the translated fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. On the cover it had this beautiful picture of the princess looking into the pond, where the Frog Prince is holding whatever it was a frog would be able to hand to a princess.

Moral of that story – she had to give him a kiss to get the thing she dropped in the pond – silly girl. He turned out to be a handsome prince (because those things used to always happen in those stories), and they lived happily ever after.

The end.

Right.

We know about those frogs though, don't we? Not all turn out to become our prince or princess Charming. Most of them stay slightly damp, very noisy, jumpy and unpredictable…frogs.

Our good friend Z taught us about Kissing Frogs. The endless meetings with new people, then they don't attend the meeting you rushed back home for to be in time for. The excitement of a new project and then it does not get off the ground. The proposal you spent days on to get perfect, with not even an acknowledgement of receipt. Kissing the frogs.

But then something magical does happen. Not every time, that is why it is called magic, remember… The stars align. The right connection crosses your path, you meet someone who gives you new perspective. Things start moving in the direction you were hoping for.

And you want to get frustrated, because WHY did you have to deal with all the frogs? I believe it reminds you to treat those aligned, lovely connections with kindness. Appreciation, joy, admiration.

Because you know what the pond often looks like
